Yes. LUAMO products are free from conventional fossil-based plastics. Instead of petroleum, the material is based on plant-based raw materials and natural polymers.
What is traceless®?
traceless® is a patented natural polymer made from plant-based by-products. It was developed to replace fossil-based plastics with a more sustainable material solution.
Why is LUAMO an alternative to plastic?
LUAMO offers an alternative to plastic because its products are not based on fossil raw materials. Instead, they are made from plant-based by-products. This helps conserve valuable resources and enables new material cycles.
Is LUAMO compostable?
Yes. LUAMO products made from traceless® are home-compostable. The actual biodegradation depends on the specific conditions and local disposal options.
How do I dispose of LUAMO products?
LUAMO products made from traceless® are DIN-certified as home and garden compostable. On your home compost, the material naturally breaks down within a few weeks.
And one small request: please don’t leave LUAMO in the environment. Even though the material is biodegradable, waste doesn’t belong in nature.
Why can’t LUAMO be disposed of in the organic waste bin?
Under current regulations, LUAMO products cannot be disposed of in the municipal organic waste bin. The reason is simple: in Germany, industrially manufactured products are generally not permitted in the organic waste bin – regardless of what material they are made from.
What if I don’t have my own compost?
No compost? No problem. Simply dispose of LUAMO products in your general waste. LUAMO is made from traceless®, a natural material produced from plant-based by-products. It contains no fossil-based plastic and no microplastics. During thermal recovery, the CO₂ absorbed by the plant during its growth is released again. That’s how the natural carbon cycle stays in motion.
Is LUAMO suitable for food contact?
Yes. LUAMO products are designed for food contact applications and meet the necessary requirements for their intended use.
Are LUAMO products durable enough for everyday use?
Yes. LUAMO products are designed to meet the requirements of typical single-use applications. They combine the functionality you expect from good cutlery with a more sustainable approach to materials.
Why does LUAMO use plant-based by-products instead of new raw materials?
LUAMO deliberately uses by-products from the agricultural industry to make better use of existing resources and avoid using additional agricultural land for material production.
